Finally Home

We are home and so excited! We are taking turns being up and taking care of Layton. It has actually worked out really well because Bryce and I are on opposite schedules anyway! Last night was my first night by myself while Bryce was at work. I was actually surprised how well it went.

Layton has been an excellent baby so far. He is so quiet and calm. We have been working very hard to get him on a schedule and it is working out great! He eats, sleeps for 3 hours, poops, plays, eats, sleeps for 3 hours, poops and plays. He is eating more and more everyday which only means that he is growing and growing! I only wish that he could stay this small forever!

Layton is here!

We are so excited that our little guy has joined us! Surprisingly, Monday morning I went into labor on my own and did not need to be induced. We went to the hospital around 8am only to get sent back home by 10 because I was not progressing enough to be able to stay. Around 2pm the contractions were getting stronger and I could hardly walk, so we went back to the hospital and I told them that I was not going home without having a baby!

The contractions got stronger and more painful until about 4cm when I got my epidural. Before the epidural I was given a pain killer, and even though it was hardly working I guess I was saying some pretty hilarious stuff! They told me that I was finally ready to push around 1am and after some hard pushing and good luck Layton was born at 3:03am on Tuesday, June 28. He weighed 6lbs 8oz and was 20 inches long.

He did have to go down to the NICU to get checked out and make sure everything was OK. Bryce got to go with him and stayed the whole time. After everything was said and done we were so excited to have our baby boy in the room with us. We stayed up all night and stared at him and talked about how wonderful our lives were going to be as a family of 3.

We spent the the next day in the hospital until it was time to go home! We were so excited and nervous at the same time... We knew that the party had finally begun! =)

Baby room is complete...

Thank goodness I am completely done with the baby room! I have worked so hard on it and can't honestly believe I did it all! I was messing around with my new camera last night and decided that I would show off all of my hard work! =)

Date is set...

I went to the Doctor this morning for my 38 week check up! She checked and said that I am 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. We went ahead and talked about induction and decided that we would set the appointment. Bryce and I have to go to the hospital next Wednesday, June 29 at 8pm and will stay until we have our baby boy! If little man agrees with our plan he will have the same birthday as my dad, which will means that I don't have to buy him a 50th Birthday gift! =)

I am having contractions quite frequently and am just trying to drink at least a gallon or water a day with a tea to top it off! I can't wait to be able to eat like a normal person again. I decided already on all the things that I want to have: coffee, bologna sandwich, large McDonald's coke, Sushi, Mountain Dew!

Zachary is coming out here on Tuesday to be in Vegas during delivery and then will spend the next few days with his nephew! I'm not sure if he is more excited about golfing in 100 degree weather or meeting the new addition! Mom and Dad will be here on Saturday and get to spend their whole vacation with the first Grandbaby!

There is not much else going on. All the hospital bags are backed and ready to go. The car seat bases are installed in both cars. Laundry has all been washed, dried and put away. Kallie is in baby training, and doing awesome I might add! I have left myself a few things to do to stay busy in the next week: go to the DMV to register my new car, get blackout curtains for baby's room, carpets are being cleaned Monday morning, grocery shopping Tuesday, relaxing Wednesday! Most importantly... TRYING TO STAY COOL!!!!

Only 7 more days till baby is here and we are so excited! =)

You will understand when you're a parent...

I wanted to start this post to share our little family with our big family and friends. We live so far away from our families that it will be nice to be able to have a place for them to go and watch our little guy grow! I have been blogging throughout my pregnancy and now that he could be here any day, it is time to move on to bigger and better things!

I went to the doctor last week and she wanted to wait until June 23 to check my cervix again. If she checks and I am dilating then she wants to induce labor on June 29, which means Baby and my dad will have the same birthday! If I am not dilating she wants to wait until July 7, which is my actual due date. Mom and Dad have gotten their plane tickets and we are so excited for them to get here!

As I am getting closer to the end the nerves are finally beginning to set in, you finally realize that this little guy has to come out some how. We also hope that we will be just as good of parents to our little one as our parents were to us! Bryce has been very supportive through this whole process and continues to be more and more each day. Most days I don't know what I would do without him!

We have had a lot of discussions about our parents and upbringing lately, just to come to realize that when our parents use to tell us, "You will understand when you are a parent," we are finally starting to get a glimpse of what they were talking about, and it hasn't even begun...
